One day, in the future, it will be possible for people to gather in real time online to wish a long time coworker/friend well even if that person is living on the other side of the country. While that day is yet to come we have set up this blog so that you can say here anything you would like to say to Bruce on this, the occasion of his retirement from Travelers.
Hi Bruce,
ReplyDeleteGreat photos and good memories.
I am a better person for knowing you and your family.
Joyce
Congratulations on your retirement!!! I love the photos of the boat house...can't wait to visit you guys in Seattle. Enjoy your days of leisure & hard work fixing up the house. Your kitty is very cute! I can't believe how many business cards you've had. I love the photos of Robert and Sutton :)
ReplyDeleteWow Bruce, you've made a full circle and what a journey! The UW'g brochure with our pictures is such a hoot! It seems so long ago, but such a great memory. I have so many great memories of you when I was your assistant underwriter! One of my favorites is when we would work late and you would bring your fresh home grown tomatoes, bacon & lettuce for our dinner. Some of my best BLT’s! You always have had such a free spirit and a desire to enjoy life at it’s fullest! I always remembered something you told me long ago, you said, when things get too comfortable, that’s when they will always change. Over the years, when that has happened, you come to mind. I say to myself, yeah Bruce, you’re right again,. I will never forget that, you touched my life and my heart. I wish you the very best in your retirement! I’m so happy that you and Sue have gone back to Seattle – home! Please let me know if you’re ever in K.C.! If I ever make it to Seattle, I’ll definitely be looking you up! Take Care and enjoy every day of your retirement!! I love ya -Man! Kathy (Duce) Allison
ReplyDeleteHi Bruce: Congratulations!!! I am very happy for you. Hope you enjoy your retirement as much as I do mine. It is just great that you (or was it Sue) saved all your calling cards and other information from your years with St. Paul. I enjoyed viewing your history and rememberances. Glad to see you got your CIC. I still remember the quarterly meetings in which you participated so enthusiastically. Bruce, it was a pleasure to have worked with you in Birmingham and it is an honor to count you among my friends. The St. Paul attracted the best people and you were definitely one of them. Take good care -- Carmel (Machado) Maloney
ReplyDeleteHi Bruce, this is Linda Meadows. Wow with all those cards and positions, I assume you couldn't make up your mind what you wanted to be, so you just decided to retire. I remeber the "do rag" and the "flip flops" from your Birmingham days. Also the smoking of the pencil, hopefully, you never went back to smoking. Lottie and I enjoyed working with you, you always had such a sunny personality. Some of these pictures really are in the past since some of you had much more hair. I will be glad to enjoy in the retirement club, hopefully, in a couple of years. Have a "Good Life After St. Paul".
